Hi! My name is Ekaterina Borodacheva. I am an illustrator from Saint Petersburg, Russia, and a member of "The Union of Artists of Russia," the International Association of Designers, "Vatikam," and "JIA," the Japan Illustrators' Association.
I was born on July 27, 1986, in the city of Leningrad. At that time, the city was called that way before being renamed Saint-Petersburg. I studied at the Repin Academy of Fine Arts, Faculty of Graphics, and I also have a degree from Pushkin Leningrad State University. My graduate thesis was «The Art of Illustration in Children's Fiction Books."
The medium I work with is mostly watercolors combined with colored pencils. I pay attention to every detail of the characters and objects, and along with creating, I perform historical research. Each drawing and painting is made by hand without the use of computer-aided software.
The first book with my illustrations was published in 2009 by Meshcheryakov’s Publishing House in Moscow. Since then, book illustration has become the main focus of my work. I worked with a variety of publishing houses in Russia and around the world.
In 2014, a publishing house in Germany released a special edition of a book with my illustrations. And in 2017, a fully illustrated fairy tale book called "The Three Bears" was published in Italy.
Many of my original artworks are in private collections in Russia, Serbia, Spain, China, and Canada.
In addition to books, I create illustrations for dinnerware sets, calendars, and other merchandise.
